Crossfit and Never Give Up

May 29, 2012

I saw this video today and it made me get out and run.

I am currently at 154.97 miles out of the 1,000 I plan to run this year. My running lately has come to an almost complete stop all because of my new friend Crossfit. I joined Crossfit at the beginning of May because I heard it is the best workout for long distance runners.

It is the best workout I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve never been in so much pain in all of my life.

Last month I ran the Ozark Race for the Cure 10K and told a friend I choose the 10K because a 5K is just not a workout for me anymore. HAH! Cocky me can’t even run 2 miles anymore.

This is mile 5 where I stopped to do the robot really quick.

This workout is working my body in a whole new way. My legs have been in a constant state of pain for about 4 weeks, running has become almost impossible. I’ve been discouraged with my milage slowing done but I really believe it’s been worth it. I always read how important it is to change things up with your work outs. It feels good to be challenged.

I’m traveling a lot in the month of June so I’m taking the month off from Crossfit and getting the milage up!!

Have you heard of or tried Crossfit?

How do you change up your workouts?

I haven’t tried Crossfit yet but I want to! I’m not sure I would be able to deal with not running as much though, especially with our marathon coming up in September.

I loved the first video! Thank you for sharing it :)

Jamie, I think you would LOVE Crossfit!! But yes, I wouldn’t try it until your marathon is over. I’ve heard that after a month your body goes back to normal and that once you get back into running, your speed increases significantly. :)

Atleast your exercising! Crossfit sounds hardcore fo sho. I’m thinking of trading in my knee for a new one so I can run painfree. I kid. I kid. I’m thankful for the knee I have. Just have to get things figured out. Yes, still. So glad for the update on your life! I’m such a stalker I know.

I can’t believe this knee of yours! SO frustrating. Can you go for long walks. I’ve been doing much more of those lately than runs and honestly prefer it.
